Am I the only one that thinks this is a bad idea?

Yesterday, Transworld Skateboarding announced that the city of Venice, CA is planning to tear down the current VB skatepark to make room for a 16,000-sq-ft concrete monstrosity. This means the park at Venice Beach will become just like every other one southern California -- Insert joke about cops giving skaters tickets for skating in skateparks here.

I think this is splendid news, if they are planning to replace the skateboarding park with a lawn bowling park or a cricket pitch.
